LPGA Comes to El Dorado
Since 2015, Murphy USA has hosted the El Dorado Shootout, one of the final stops on the Epson Tour, at Mystic Creek Golf Club in El Dorado, Arkansas. The Epson Tour serves as the qualifying tour for the LPGA, and many of today’s LPGA stars get their start on the greens at Mystic Creek during the annual tournament.
In 2022, Murphy USA hired Sells Agency to assist with marketing efforts to foster public interest in the tournament. These efforts have included a multitactical campaign through the conclusion of the tournament, on-site support during the tournament, and strategic assistance in driving greater awareness to the tournament. Sells Agency has continued to provide direction and guidance as the tournament prepares to enter its 10th year in 2025.
After successfully bringing awareness to the people of El Dorado and surrounding communities and increasing attendance, the El Dorado Shootout has continued to provide both face-to-face and online opportunities for the community to connect with competing golfers.
- After extending invitations to ten regional high school and college golf teams, 28 high school and college golfers from four schools attended at least one round of the tournament in 2024.
- Through collaborating with Epson Tour on Instagram content, the @road2eldo account increased its organic reach from 2023 to 2024 by 273% and its video views by 83%.
- More selective geo-targeting in 2024 led to digital display ads generating 371,275 impressions and 323 clicks total and social media ads generating 805,542 impressions and 7,077 clicks total.
